PEW PEW PEW!

Kat and I went to see a laser show last night, specifically Laser Queen. She'd never been, and I hadn't been to a laser show since I was about eight, so we grabbed dinner and headed to the Science Center.

The show was good, although it did occur to me we were basically paying money to lie on our backs and watch an iTunes visualizer for an hour. Still, we were entertained, and that's exactly why we came out, so success! Kat was so into it she was looking into all the other laser shows you can experience, which included Pink Floyd (obviously), Bob Marley (a little too on the nose), Tool (sounds...depressing), Lady Gaga (not a fucking chance), and...Sublime.

What?

Sublime's just okay to me. I have that one album that everyone has, with the "What I Got" song on it. But nothing about that music makes me think, "Woah, man, this needs lasers." It got me thinking: what are the worst musicians you could pair with a laser light show? It can't just be bad music, bad music is bad on its own. I'm talking about popular artists whose music would be so discordant with lasers that it would be entirely off-putting. I came up with this list:

  • Laser Randy Newman
  • Laser Leonard Cohen
  • Laser Billie Holiday
  • Laser Tori Amos
  • Laser Gordon Lightfoot
  • Laser Gil Scott-Heron
  • Laser Bette Midler
  • Laser Counting Crows
  • Laser Rufus Wainwright
  • Laser The Smiths
Got a better idea? What's the worst combination of laser and music you can come up with?
